I'm based near Bridgnorth in the beautiful county of Shropshire and I offer civil funerals in Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Staffordshire.
I've always loved working with people - originally in education and community arts, more recently with people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. I also spent
11 years supporting people in crisis as a volunteer with the Samaritans. I was drawn to celebrancy work as a result of helping to plan and lead funerals for two relatives, which led me to training with Civil Ceremonies and gaining the Ofqual-recognised Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy.
Most of us only have to plan a funeral ceremony once or twice in our lives, and when we're coping with the loss of someone we love it can be hard to know how to start. So I work sensitively with families - offering suggestions, but following your lead to create meaningful, individualised funeral ceremonies with tributes that are respectful and highly personal. Ceremonies can be completely non-religious or can include prayers, hymns or bible readings, according to your wishes. Each funeral is unique, written specifically for the individual concerned.
Often I will be asked to conduct the whole ceremony, with perhaps a reading or some reflections from a family member or friend. Or you may wish to take a more active role in designing and leading the ceremony, or prefer a plainer, simpler funeral. Whatever you decide, my role is to support you in creating the funeral that is right for you and your loved one.
While funerals are sad occasions, it can also be uplifting to come together and remember what it was that made a person so special, and I count it an honour and privilege to be able to help bereaved families in this way.
